Patent Litigation
What it is
Patent disputes decided in federal court.
When a patent owner and an accused infringer cannot resolve a dispute by agreement, the question of whether a patent is infringed — and whether it is valid — goes to a federal district court.
Which side you are on
Enforcing a patent. Someone is practicing your patented invention without permission and will not take a license. Litigation may be the way to obtain compensation or to stop the infringement.
Defending against a claim. You have received a demand letter or been sued for infringement. The response may involve non-infringement and invalidity defenses, a parallel challenge at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, or a negotiated resolution.
What you get
An early, candid assessment of the merits, the likely cost, and the realistic outcomes, followed by representation through the stages of the case — pleadings, claim construction, discovery, expert work, and resolution. We draw on decades of experience in patent litigation and licensing to help you through the process.
